Typhon is the terrifying son of Gaia, who is Mother Earth. Typhon is so terrible, he is known as the king of all monsters. He was a soot black color, and had 100 horrible dragon heads with flaming eyes. Earth created Typhon in order to punish Zeus. She wanted to punish Zeus because he had destroyed Cronus, and threw him into Tartarus, the jail for immortal beings.
Typhon was a very frightening and powerful monster. He spat moleten rock, and he had many writhing snake-like arms and legs. He was so horrifying that even the supreme gods turned themselves into animals and ran away. Typhon could even uproot mountains and hurl them at Olympus!. All the gods cowered away from the monster, and were to cowardly to stand up against it. Athena was the only one who still had sense in her, and she tried to convince the gods to fight.
Though Athena tried and tried to get the other gods to fight, the Olympians were to afraid to make a stand. Finally, Zeus had had enough of Athena's jibes, and we was forced to fight Typhon.
Even though Zeus had his thunderbolts, the monster was to strong for him. Typhon really beat up Zeus. After the easy fight for Typhon, he dragged the battered King of Olympus to his cave so that he could torture him in his own leisurely time. He hacked a few sinews out of Zeus so that he could not move, and called Delphyne, another monsteress, to keep an eye on his prisoner while he went out to disable a few more gods and goddesses.
Back in Olympus, Athena heard about Zeus's dilemma, and was sneering at the cowardly Olympians. "Call yourself friends?!" Athena jibed. After a bit of pushing, Hermes and Pan volunteered to go to Typhon's cave and to help out Zeus.
Hermes and Pan found the cave, and realized that Typhon wasn't in. Pan let out one of his screams which sent everyone running in panic, and Delphyne ran up a wall and hid in a corner. Hermes than used some healing powers to pop Zeus's muscles back into place, and left immortality to do the major healing process instantaneously (When you are immortal, you don't exactly need a doctor).
After being humiliated so much, Zeus was EXTREMELY angry with Typhon. He trained, trained, and trained some more until he was VERY VERY powerful. The return fight was on, and since all the gods were battling full time, Typhon didn't stand a chance. Some of Zeus's supporters even went to the extent of tricking Typhon into drinking poison...
Zeus eventually dropped Mount Etna on Typhon... The ENTIRE Mount Etna... After this ten THOUSAND year battle between the gods and Typhon, which, by the way, is not very long for a godly battle, good triumphed over evil. Since Typhon was immortal, he was only trapped under the mountain... His fate: Forever spew molten rock through the top of the mountain. Typhon was the first volcano.
Though Typhon was completely disabled, his wife, Echidna was not. In the midst of battle, seeing Typhon falter and knowing the gods would eventually win, she crawled away to give birth to the nastiest monsters ever to be witnessed in Greek mythology, and to be a challenge to future heroes.
